Growing up as a kid, my Christmas wish list would include new clothes, a pair of pants, pair of shoes or sneakers and on top, the latest action figures or robot toys.

Fast forward to today, if you’re going to ask the kids for their Christmas wish list, pretty sure topping the list would either be a PC, tablet, smartphone, gaming console or a music player. I remember my daughter asking me for a PC for Christmas present as early as the first quarter of this year.

Of course it is not only our kid who would be glad to have a PC as a gift this Christmas, a PC would be a good and useful gift idea for my wife (and for me) too.

I am a software developer and my job requires me to have a powerful PC for programming, a fast, reliable PC that can handle multiple running applications and databases at the same time.

A PC that’s flexible both for work and home use and one that can be easily carried is the best choice for my wife, who mostly uses Microsoft Office 2010 applications.

My daughter (who loves everything pink) would simply love an ultra slim PC that’s perfect for surfing, playing games and watching videos on the web.

PCs have become an integral part of our daily life. It has significantly evolved and changed the way we live: how we communicate with friends and families overseas, how we work and how we do business.

At home, it provides us all sort of entertainment: music, movies and games. PCs also serve as an important tool in my kid’s learning.

It’s a great time to get a Windows 7 PC

I’ve been using Windows 7 (Ultimate) for almost two years now. As compared to the previous versions, Windows 7 is faster and more stable. It also has a more appealing UI and themes and provides me an easier way of doing things (file manipulation, etc.). I also don’t have any issues connecting my other devices on my Windows 7 PC. It also provides me more security and user control options which help me in setting up and monitoring my kid’s user account and PC activities.

• Upon creating your profile, Google+ automatically searches contacts from your Gmail account.
• You can add people in Google+ groups called Circles. You can create your own Circle aside from the already available Circles: Friends, Family, Acquaintances and Following.
• You can add persons to Circles by adding the email address of the person you want to add or you can just drag and drop them to your Circles (and enjoy the cool animation ).
• Notifications are integrated and are called Streams. You can add photos, videos, files, links and locations in your Streams
• Sparks allows you view feeds / related stuffs of your interests.
• (G00gle) Chat is automatically integrated, with voice and video options. I have yet to test the video options, but if you are already familiar with Google Chat video feature then this is nothing new.
• Sending message to a contact is simpler.
• The photo viewer and other features in general are notably faster.
• I have also yet to try the Hangout which allows you to have a video chat with your Circles and also the Google+ Mobile integration features.

So, is Google+ ready to compete with Facebook? Maybe. Having backed up by Google’s other services from the chat, voice, video, location and other integration, the Google+ project looks promising. Facebook may be well ahead on the social network scene but Google+ is Google’s testimony that it won’t just allow ‘Facebook to be the new Google’. On first impression, Google+ looks like a Facebook+Skype integration. Maybe Google+ is making its way by including features which are not yet available on Facebook and other competing apps or putting them all in a single platform. After all, it’s all about innovations and how they can convince us users to use the ‘+1′ instead of the ‘Like’ button.

The newest member of their IP Surveillance Camera range that is designed for home and SOHO users, the DCS-1130L is one of the brand’s first internet Camera to come with the mydlink.com feature. This innovative web-based application turns the internet Camera into a plug and play device, while allowing the Camera to be accessed and managed from anywhere via the mydlink portal.

Surveillance solution with image and video capture capability
