I was invited last weekend for a Jiu-Jitsu 101 by One Hyundai Club at the B.A.M.F. Mixed Martial Arts Center in Parañaque.

I am a sucker for MMA and full contact/combat sports, especially UFC. My flatmates and I used to buy UFC DVDs and watch them back when UFC was still not being aired in cable channels. There was also a time when I would stay up late on Sundays to watch UFC event replays even if I have to wake up early for work the following day.

I’m a fan. And what better way to treat a fan than to experience the activity first hand. Ok, I didn’t learn how to do the Arm Bar but pretty much we learned some basic moves (Rear Naked Choke FTW! ).

It was a really exciting experience and is something that I wish I can practice on a regular basis. Yep, it’s not as easy as it looks like on the tube and it’s not something you can just learn in days. I really admire how the instructors and MMA fighters in general devote their time and spend countless hours in the gym practicing the craft.
