There are a number of ways on how to download YouTube videos, most of them requiring you to install a third party application or a plugin for your browser.
On most times, these apps/plugins will download the video from YouTube as a .flv or flash file.
Earlier, I bumped into this site that shows the steps on how could download YouTube videos as MP4 without requiring any third party apps to be installed – in three simple steps.
So, how do you do this?
ex. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VoFbH8jTzE&feature=channel
will now be http://ntyoutube.com/watch?v=-VoFbH8jTzE&feature=channel
or ntyoutube.com/watch?v=-VoFbH8jTzE&feature=channel
Now, Isn’t that sweet?

That’s a cool trick.
You can also go to http://keepvid.com/ and paste the YouTube link and click download. Without installing anything, you can then select which format and resolution you want from the five different download links generated.
