Paris 26 Gigapixels is the biggest assembled panoramic image of the world [in HD]. The image is a stitching of more than 2000 individual photos.
All photos were taken by a 21.1 MP Canon 5D Mark II mounted on a custom-made panoramic head, with a 300 mm f4.0 with a tele converter (in order to get a 600mm /f8.0)
